Chart Settings, Layout and Appearance

In this section you will learn how to set up and use the timescale and value axes, one or multiple, set up chart layout, background, alignment and dimensions, add labels and markers.

Chart Layout

AnyChart Stock can display several synchronized charts at once; to learn about available layout, alignment and dimensions options and settings, please read on to:

Y-Axis (Value Axis)

AnyChart Stock's value axes are rich by features and very flexible by configuration. To learn how to define the number of value axes to be shown, how to position and customize the axes, set titles and place grid lines, highlight the zero line, add and customize labels, set up a scale mode and synchronize multiple axes, please read on to:

X-Axis (Timescale)

Date-Time Axis or X-axis is one of the basic elements in the AnyChart Stock architecture. This article covers the issues of making the global settings, which apply to all charts on a page, and the local settings, which apply to each individual chart. In particular, you will learn how to define the visible range, total number of ticks on the timescale, show major and minor ticks, and many more. Please read on to:

Axis Markers

Axis markers are used for showing trends, limits, and other important information on the chart. To learn what types of the markers are available, how to add one or several of them to your chart, and how to customize the appearance and behavior of those, please read on:

Chart Custom Labels

AnyChart Stock allows adding labels to the general chart area or to individual charts. These labels display static text and utilize a special positioning mechanism. To learn how to add labels to all or specific charts, how to position them and how to customize their appearance - please see:

Canvas and Chart Background

There are General Background and specific Chart Background out there. The first one defines the background that surrounds all the charts, labels and other elements displayed by the component; the second one defines the background that fills a specific chart. To learn how to configure these backgrounds, please see:

Chart Defaults

If several charts have similar settings for the various elements they contain, configuring those elements could be rather complex, and the XML that configures them, subsequently, could be rather large. To avoid entering similar settings over and over again and to make the XML configuration file smaller, you can take advantage of the Defaults Section and define the values that apply to all your charts by default.
